Just to sum it all up, I've been in EMS since 1980. A paramedic since 1983, and a Critical Care Paramedic since 2005. With the retirement of a veteran of EMS education, after nearly ten years in the Education Dept, I have accepted the position of Education Director at KCEAA and will hopefully be able to fill that role to the best of my ability and have no lapse in quality of education provided here. After ten years in the Edu. Dept, When recently offered, I quickly accepted the position of Operations Supervisor/Shift Commander for the Eastern Section of our county. I started volunteer firefighting in 1974 and remained active until a few years ago. I am still a training officer for Cedar Grove VFD & Ambulance, but as for actively kicking down doors, cutting up cars and dragging hose, I haven't did that for a few years now. I currently am in the Education Dept. at Kanawha Co. Emergency Ambulance Authority. I've been with this organization for the past eighteen years. My main duties have been processing EMT-B Recertification, Infectious Disease Officer, Liason between KCEAA and the Health Dept, County Rapid Responder Coordinator, Team member with our Regional Response Team that primarily responds to natural disasters. My only deployments so far have been Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, neither made NYC and good tourist destination at the time. I still work the field a few times a month, just to keep up with what I need to stay sharp on. In my spare time, I like to deer hunt and fish from time to time. When the weather cooperates, I like to ride the motorcycle. I belong to a motorcycle club (IPMC)that has LE, FF, Military and general public service people from all over the country. Currently I have five grandchildren, all boys until the last one, then we finally have a girl to spoil.
