About Thomas Binz

As a Substitute Coordinator / 5th-12th Grade, at Making Waves Academy, I am responsible for managing the daily operations of the substitute teacher program, ensuring quality instruction and learning continuity for students, and providing academic and behavioral support for grades 5 to 12. I have been working in this role for over a year and a half, and I enjoy collaborating with teachers, staff, and administrators to create a positive and inclusive school culture. Prior to joining Making Waves Academy, I spent five and a half years at Caliber Beta Academy, where I held various positions as a Teacher, Math Interventionist, and Assistant Dean. During this time, I developed and delivered engaging and enriching computer science lessons for elementary and middle school students, leveraging technology to enhance their skills and interests. I also coached and mentored other teachers, implemented new strategies to improve student performance and behavior, and communicated with key leadership and stakeholders. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and I am passionate about fostering inclusivity, innovation, and excellence in education.
