About Thomas Brauge

I hold a PhD in microbiology and molecular biology from the University of Lille 1. Throughout the past decade, my research has been primarily focused on foodborne pathogens in the fishery sector, bacterial biofilms, and antimicrobial resistance. After completing my doctorate, I secured a permanent position at the French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) within the Laboratory for Food Safety located in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Currently, I serve as a project leader within the Bacteriology and Parasitology of Fishery and Aquaculture Products unit. In this role, I am responsible for designing and overseeing national and international research projects. In addition to my research responsibilities, I have gained valuable experience in management. I have supervised interns and technicians, and have facilitated various meetings and working groups. Notably, I have acted as a mentor to three doctoral students, two of whom successfully defended their theses. Overall, my academic background and professional experience have provided me with a strong foundation in microbiology, molecular biology, food safety research, and management. I am deeply passionate about advancing our knowledge of foodborne pathogens and antimicrobial resistance, and I am fully committed to making contributions to this field through my ongoing research and collaborations. Since 2017, I have served as an expert at the Aquimer competitiveness cluster and have taken on the responsibility of a research axis for the European Union reference laboratory for Listeria monocytogenes. Additionally, in early 2020, I joined the internal scientific council of the federative research structure called "Campus de la mer". Since 2012, alongside my research endeavors, I have been involved in delivering university courses (through the Université du Littoral Côte d'Opale) and professional training (via the CFPMT). Today, I am enthusiastic about establishing new collaborations and I am open to exploring new training opportunities.
