About Thomas Brennan

Tom Brennan is the Director of the Science Advisory Board Staff Office. In this role, Mr. Brennan manages the Science Advisory Board and the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee. These two committees are Federal Advisory Committees to the US EPA. Mr. Brennan has thirty-five years of professional experience working in the fields of environmental science and policy. Mr. Brennan also serves in a volunteer role as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences. Mr. Brennan began his career working for consulting firms in the Washington, D.C. area. His consulting work supported risk assessment activities for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Department of Defense, and the EPA. For the past twenty-seven years, he has been working for EPA, where he has held several positions including Risk Assessor, Communications Officer, Team Leader, and Branch Chief. He has been the Deputy Director of the Science Advisory Board Staff Office and Chief of Staff for the Office of Public Engagement and Environmental Education. In addition to his work at EPA, Mr. Brennan was also an Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department of Montgomery College where he taught Environmental Science and General Biology from 2011-2014. Mr. Brennan has B.S. and M.S. degrees from Ohio University in Botany/Plant Biology.
