I don't know many things, but one of the few things I know lots about apart from Wycombe Wanderers FC is sector-specific marketing to help recruitment companies grow. This is because I've done nothing but recruitment marketing since 2010. In my client-side career I've performed every in-house role, working my way up from Marketing Executive to Assistant, then Manager, Head of and finally Director of Marketing & Operations at an international Interim Management and Executive Search firm. In 2014 I set up Oxford Marketing Agency (OMA), where I've worked with 100s of recruitment companies of all shapes, sizes and sectors. Only I do the work, so the quality is high. A bit like overnight GDPR experts, there seem to be a lot of us about now. One way to find the good ones is to check they've had in-house recruitment marketing positions at every level before they went down the agency route. Otherwise, there's a high chance they're just a generic agency that jumped on the bandwagon. I set OMA up in response to these generic digital marketing agencies, which I felt over-charged and under-delivered during my client-side career. Here's some examples- PR agency paid thousands a month for placements on websites you've never heard of - Digital agency charging an hour's fee for resizing a photo - SEO agency playing smoke and mirrors with something called White Hat - Web agency not letting you access the CMS of your own website - Brand agency adding a premium on email sends Because of this, I don’t use complicated marketing jargon or drown you in plans that take longer to write than implement. I do believe in being different, trying new things, learning from different sectors and being inspired by both art and science. I'm in this for the long haul which means I round down, not up, and clients sleep easy at night knowing that a two-minute job won’t turn up on their monthly invoice. More importantly, I strongly believe in doing the right thing. That means I’ll always tell you what’s in your best interest rather than mine, which may mean hiring someone full time in future rather than using me. You might find that surprising, but I like to sleep easy at night too. My overheads are low which means the prices are fair. Every penny is spent on delivering unique and creative marketing plans, not expensive London offices, ostentatious suits or client entertaining (sadly).
