About Thomas Cahill

I’m employed by City of Dublin Education & Training Board as a teacher and working at Colaiste Dhulaigh College of Further Education. My subject matter expertise is social and behavioural sciences (psychology), workplace safety and pre-hospital emergency care (see "Courses" below for modules delivered). This year, I’m coordinating a course I created, and recruited for, in QQI Level 5 Pre-University Psychology Studies which was designed to develop academic and scientific skills for first year of a BSc Psychology Program. I assist in the Critical Incident Management and Student Support teams, as well. During the summer, I’m responsible for the Explore Initiative(facilitated CDCFE). The intention of Explore is to develops basic digital literacy in experienced general operatives reducing their likelihood of unemployment due to insufficient digital skills, and to foster their interest in lifelong learning. The initiative requires a mixed-methods approach with repeated measures demonstrating the efficacy of Explore and its popularity across sectors. Lastly, I’ve been a healthcare volunteer in an auxiliary rescue and ambulance charity since 2005. As the Training and Cadet Leader of a unit, I’m responsible training and development of members, and management of our younger members. My rescue experience brings innovative challenges for all which encourages competencies in diverse areas. Aside from Training and Cadets (Youths), I write grant applications and am a member of the National Critical Incident Stress Management Team.
