About Thomas Chyba

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE: Dr. Chyba has been actively engaged in the development, performance modeling and field testing of optical remote sensing systems for over 20 years and has 28 years experimental and theoretical experience with laser and electro-optical systems. He has over 70 publications in this technical area and several patents. He has direct experience with designing, engineering, modeling, testing and fielding lidar systems in airborne and off-road military vehicle environments. He has developed compact, portable lidar systems and advanced laser technologies for lidar applications. He has led science and test and evaluation efforts on Raman remote sensor programs, including development and ROC analysis/Taguchi Optimization of chemometric algorithms, spectroscopic library development, chemical agent-simulant correlation studies and laboratory and field system performance testing and modeling. In recognition of his efforts leading to a successful Technical Readiness Assessment of the Joint Contaminated Surface Detector, he was awarded ITT's prestigious Ring of Quality Award in 2005. He was elected to be one of 5 Technical Fellows in ITT Information Sytems in 2009.
