About Thomas Connell

Culture is paramount. A healthy environment to foster the correct culture is everyone's responsibility. I have intentionally increased my professional skills as a leader by continuing education and acting on all feedback. I started out at CareerBuilder in as a web developer. I have increased my influence consistently since that first day. For the past several years I have managed an infrastructure team of two to four contributors that delivers DevOps/Site Reliability Engineering solutions. My team supports eight development project teams. We deliver continuous integration and deployment of services in collocated and AWS environments. In 2019 I picked upa second team that focuses on technically supporting the finance department to improve business planning, the general ledger and procurement. I drive our MicroService Counsel that sets standards and conventions for those 40 plus developers. I am comfortable working in an agile environment. I have lead successful initiatives that require disparate groups of developers, Infrastructure, and Operations from multiple departments to work together and meet hard deadlines for the business. It was my responsibility to work with the business to define the requirements and bring that together as a viable solution with a return on investment in mind. As the IT Audit Lead, I am tasked with meeting compliance through several teams across the IT department of about 150 people. This has given me the opportunity to influence without authority. This effort also requires regular communication our executive-level leadership and the external independent auditors. I have developed my servant leadership skills through my professional and nonprofit experiences. The Enterprise Software Solutions' mission is to empower CareerBuilder with software solutions to drive our business. My Site Reliability Team exists within the Enterprise Solutions Department. We have three main objectives. They are to "empower developer productivity","monitor application uptime and performance", and "improve quality from a SOX compliance and risk perspective".
