About Thomas D. Miller

As Corporate Vice President of Digital, Data & IT for Research & Early Development at Novo Nordisk, I lead a global organization delivering cutting-edge scalable infrastructure, data platforms, and digital practices that accelerate scientific discovery and portfolio progression. This includes enabling high-performance computing, ML platforms, and enterprise-scale systems that empower scientists and product teams across therapy areas. With over two decades of experience spanning medical device innovation, digital therapeutics, and global R&D leadership, I’ve built and scaled high-performing teams across Denmark, Europe, US, and Asia. My journey began with pioneering work on the award-winning FlexTouch® injection pen, now a flagship platform for GLP-1 and insulin delivery. I later established Novo Nordisk’s medical device research unit in Seattle, spearheading next-generation connectivity and digital health solutions, including the first patient dosing guidance system used in a large Phase 3 clinical trial. I’ve led transformative initiatives in oral delivery technologies, virtual design platforms, and integrated simulation environments, always with a focus on user-centered design and regulatory excellence. I hold a PhD in Industrial Engineering and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, complemented by executive education from Harvard, Stanford, and IMD. With 16 patents and numerous keynote speaking engagements, I remain passionate about innovation at the intersection of technology, medicine, and human experience.
