About Thomas Durand

Through CWU I have gained a sound, hands-on knowledge of engineering principles, tools, and practices with emphasis on design, construction and testing. I am proficient in SolidWorks, having completed multiple CAD courses including a course preparing me for the CSWP exam (Certified SolidWorks Professional). Along with my engineering courses I have taken multiple machining courses teaching me how to use common tools, measuring devices and both manual and CNC mills/lathes. I also have experience in programming CNC mills/lathes both manually and using CAM software. Along with the skills I've gained at CWU, I have a diverse work experience. I have built custom shop machines, fixtures, tooling, prototypes of new tools, and have set-up and repaired shop equipment. I am currently working at a small tool manufacturer in Lynnwood where I design, prototype and test new tools for granite counter top fabrications. I also plan, design, build, and program methods to manufacture the tools in house to the best of our ability.
