About Thomas Geist

I have worked in a wide variety of industries utilizing an even greater variety of skills and tools. I have become adept with a multitude of technologies and applications to perform my duties in a number of positions to facilitate tasks and processes. The foundation of my career is with data and data analysis. The nature of my positions has placed me in a business side IT role where I am strong with data management and reporting. Working on the business side, I understand the needs of the business. I do, however; have a continuous interest in learning more about data and analysis. To further my learning, I have recently taken online courses in SQL Server, SPSS, SharePoint, and VBA programming for Excel and Access. I enjoy teaching and helping others. I found nothing more rewarding than when someone had a problem that I could provide help for or even better, solve. This could be an individual analyst that needed information for a certain loan or report to reverse engineering a locked Access database for Cashiering and rebuilding a better version of the application to finding a way to modify the SQL queries built into some Excel reports for Finance - Planning and Analysis. I like problem solving and data issues are often like puzzles, I just have to figure out a way to solve it. Often, there would be a situation where we needed either something immediately or there was no resource available to remedy. I seemed to always find a "work around" solution. They were not always elegant, but when time was of the essence,"quick and dirty" got us what we needed. Problem solving extends into my pastimes. I have renovated two houses. One of which is a duplex, several cars including: a 1968 Mustang GT, 1968 Cougar, 1976 BMW 2002, 1969 BMW 2500, and a 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider.
