About Thomas Grap
In my scientific career so far, I have dealt with the production and characterization of dopant-free, nanoelectric field effect transistors in various projects. My main project is based on the realization and use of a device-layout, which consists of a large number of individually addressable gate electrodes. A successful implementation required the development and combination of novel patterning and deposition processes. Here, I have followed creative and innovative approaches to successfully fabricate the required devices. Furthermore, I achieved a continuous optimization of the device-quality by using electrical and optical analysis methods, while at the same time reducing the production time by constantly improving the individual processes. Compared to the current state of art, the concepts I designed yield a significant scalability of the devices and a simplification in production. I presented the results of my research at international conferences. Furthermore, I also show great commitment in the organization and implementation of student courses, as well as in the supervision of student theses. Because of my experience, I take on advisory activities at external cooperation partners additionally to my own scientific tasks. Due to the university's field of practice, I always had to independently organize and work on my projects right from the start, so that I gained experience not only in production but also in project development. I therefore see my strengths particularly in the interface between process development and process manufacturing.
