About Thomas Grim

With experience in AMI, MDMS, CIS, Volt/Var, OMS, SCADA controls, metering, RF communication technologies and more Grim has installed, upgraded, tested, troubleshot and supported most types of systems in the smart grid arena. With extensive utility experience Tom specializes in supporting AMI/MDMS and Grid Modernization. He's an expert in electric, water and gas metering and has field experience combined with technical project management, current state discovery, needs assessment, business process practices plus the RFP process through to contract award. Tom has done considerable set-up, configuration, troubleshooting and testing of AMI, MDMS and VVO systems along with their integrations to the Head End, SCADA, billing engines and various downstream systems. He's interested in remote support roles and has particular interest in implementing Use Cases to lower operating costs and improve service reliability using customer AMI data for transformer loading studies, phase balancing, vegetation management voltage control and others. AMI meter event and alert reporting to quickly inform clients of dangerous or unusual conditions is another area of interest.
