About Thomas Grime

Thomas is a highly motivated professional engineer with over 13 years of industry experience, currently working at General Motors on software for next-generation Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). Specializing in embedded software and electronics, he has developed electronic boards featuring 8-bit and 32-bit ARM microcontrollers, created schematics, routed layouts, and rapidly prototyped mechanical components using 3D printers. Thomas is an expert in writing both bare-metal firmware and using RTOS, and has hand-written bootloaders for wired and wireless firmware updating. Thomas possesses extensive expertise in hardware communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, CAN, and UART. He operates a comprehensive prototyping lab at home, equipped with programmable power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, software programmers and debuggers, electronic loads, among others. In addition to his embedded systems work, Thomas has substantial experience with Python, developing high-performance, interactive GUI applications that interface seamlessly with embedded designs, incorporating real-time plotting, CAN decoding, serial-based flashing, OpenGL rendering, and OpenCV vision processing.
