About Thomas Guay

I create, manage and fund science-based programs that promote greater understanding of the health of the Severn River ecosystem. Each program is data-based and includes an environmental outreach and educational component designed to give students, volunteers, and citizen scientists hands-on experiences that raise their enthusiasm to protect the river and its 39 creeks and coves. Programs include- water quality monitoring at 52 stations every week that involves 50 volunteers and boat captains- an SAV Navy of kayakers to study and survey underwater grasses- a Floating Classroom for middle school underserved students to study water quality, oysters and pollution threats to the waterway- oyster restoration research to expand reef building opportunities sin the Severn River, and- Operation Osprey, to create an annual database of osprey population that depend on the Severn River for their survival.
