Background
About Thomas Hamrick
I'am about to graduate from The Josef Korbel School of International Studies where I am studying international studies with a focus on security issues. My focus during my masters was on macro issues involving strategic stability, nuclear weapons strategy, arms proliferation, grand strategy, and democratic and authoritarian stability. In researching these issues, I used various quantitative and qualitative methods including data analysis, modeling, game theory and historical analysis. I currently work as the Lead Communication Technician for The University of Denver’s Campus Safety Department. Before receiving that promotion, I worked as a Campus Safety Officer and was awarded The Officer of The Year award for my work during the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m currently looking for a job that will allow me to grow professionally and personally. Having a positive impact at the place I work is a major goal for me and I hope I can continue to have that legacy. While attending graduate school I was able to take various project management courses and developed a project management plan (PMP) for a fictional maternal outcomes project in Indonesia. This was a full PMP with a work breakdown structure, staffing charts, budget tables, gantt chart & etc. I also assisted a professor with historical research concerning Eugenics and the Klan in Colorado for a book they are completing. This involved looking through historical archives and academic works. Through my job in the Campus Safety Department, I also conducted multiple criminal investigations including several that resulted in an arrest and were featured in local media. The investigations I’m most proud of assisting on were several sex offense investigations. During those investigations I had to use trauma informed interviewing and investigating to best serve my community. I also was tasked with doing research and policy analysis for the department. Some projects I was tasked with included reforming grooming standers to promote inclusivity and reforming policy and implementing technology to reduce pressure on the dispatch phone line during emergencies. All these policies had to follow and meet standards outlined in CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) to maintain CALEA accreditation for the department.
