Working with all aspects of IT since 1994, my awakening occurred in early 00’s when the Iloveyou virus hit us. Suddenly the internet delivered a blast to our E-mail system, and things were never to be the same again. The point in time from which I learned most, it must be that “Mayday” were we were forced to cut our internet lines and go back to fax and phone for all communication. From that point, I knew that Security was to be ever more important. Working in mostly Windows based environments in different companies (construction, power plants, perfume, government, finance) in the following almost 20 years, it turned out that security in the form of information, it, ot- network- physical security etc. and not to leave out the continuity aspect, was to become my career - and still is and will be for the coming years. During the years I have been supplementing my work experience with the Danish ESL education, CISSP and Prince2 certifications + I am continuously following the trends and the evolution in the security field. Today companies face the threat of being compromised on their core business in a much more devastating way than before. We have recently seen examples of companies losing millions - even billions on a single incident. I see it as my most noble task - of course based on risk analysis – to make sure that the organization I work for is protected on all possible measures. Of course my approach sometimes creates the typical clashes between IT Operations / Development / Marketing / Management etc, because what is the most important? Business development or security? During the years, I have improved in the way I handle these conflicts and also been able to take security to the management level. Have a nice and secure day. Best regards Thomas Hillerup
