Background
About Thomas Hoekstra
While playing youth football at a professional club (BVO), I completed my HAVO diploma and obtained my propaedeutic certificate in Commercial Economics. I was looking for more intellectual challenge, and after taking a gap year, I started the university programme in Business Administration. On my path toward professional football and in my ambition to keep developing as a goalkeeper, I have always continued studying alongside. I believe that both areas strengthened each other and that the challenge was beneficial for me. Now that I am fully focusing on my professional career outside of sports, my area of interest has shifted. In the upcoming academic year, I will start a bridging (pre-master’s) programme in International Relations and International Organisations. My goal is to complete the MSc in International Relations by 2026.
