About Thomas McCormick
Tom received his Bachelor of Science of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017, finishing his undergraduate studies in Barcelona at the ETSAV (Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès). While receiving his master’s in architecture at Taubman College at the University of Michigan, Tom developed an interest in adaptive reuse, community engagement, and the application of world-building in architectural practice. Tom joined Canopy in 2022 and has been involved in various speculative proposals and renovation projects including the Humboldt Park United Methodist Church conversion into affordable housing, and a warehouse adaptive re-use project for Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC). He appreciates the prioritization of work that strives to maintain and revitalize existing housing throughout Chicago. Away from the studio, Tom enjoys biking, cooking for his co-op house and recording slapdash music.
