About Thomas McFerran

In my current position, I have worked in the research commercialisation and start-up accelerator space, and my primary function has been in developing our business on technical operations end to grow from a start-up to a enterprise model. This has included strategy development on our financial, marketing, sales and delivery models, training the team and developing new processes for better efficiency, centralisation of reporting, and implementing continuous improvement and development through Lean Six Sigma principles. I was in the position as the VP Student Support at the University of Glasgow, which involved initiatives around the welfare of the student body, pushing for greater support students who need it most and coordinating events, new schemes and workshops to improve the student experience, developing university policy and working on implementation of new services. I continued at the University of Glasgow and GUSRC taking on a new role in engagement and digital solutions, in particular around technical solutions with the majority of student life moving into the digital sphere, as well as a role within the University of Glasgow helping set up and providing on-site quality assurance of a mass testing site for students on campus, in addition to spearheading a pooled testing pilot programme in partnership with the NHS and Deloitte. My past experience and side-work has included digital solutions development as a Project Exec at Inspire Digital services, PR management of multiple entertainment venues, and marketing development and consultancy projects across multiple sectors.
