About Thomas Meyer

I'm passionate about using new ideas to help people. I've been lucky to have experiences along all stages of product design, starting with user needs research & conceptualization, through detail design and testing, to manufacturing and product support. Through my consultancy experience, I worked on a range of Class II medical devices (including cardiac, ophthalmic, thoracic, implant introducers, minimally invasive) as well as novel surgical procedure development. I also worked on a range of other products such as mechanisms for mass-produced consumer electronics currently on the market, and VR model visualization. At Orbit Biomedical, I helped achieve two Class II FDA clearances for the Orbit Subretinal Delivery System, leading engineering and DHF documentation. In the startup environment, I helped across the organization, from building our our quality system to creating a full onsite surgical lab. The success of the Orbit SDS led to an acquisition by Gyroscope Therapeutics and ultimately by Novartis. Using the expanded resources of Novartis, I continue to push the field of subretinal delivery forward with the incredible device development team we've built. I thrive in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to learn new things and make an impact for patients.
