Tom has a broad range of professional experience in research administration, and an in-depth understanding of financial projection and analysis.Tom's current position at UC Berkeley requires judgment, problem solving skills, effective organizational and verbal & written communication skills with extreme focus on customer service. He has a thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities in a university environment, and he maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.Tom uses effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups, and works in a fast-paced environment with overlapping deadlines and short lead times. He maintains a high level of attention to detail, and works with a high degree of accuracy. Tom is proficient in working with computer and information management systems, and uses his skill to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting. He has demonstrated proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management including projections and budgeting and financial reports.In addition to his normal work duties, Tom is active in UC Berkeley's Research Administration Professional Development Program (RAPDP). As an instructor, he helped develop course materials for Research Administration and Compliance classes and regularly updates them with new policies and system changes.
