About Thomas Saylor

I have more than twenty years of proven experience in the teaching and learning field, the majority in the higher education industry, and possess very strong planning and organizational skills. Currently I work as Institutional Grants Manager in the higher education space, responsible for creating a new Institutional Grants Office. Responsibilities include: establishing of processes, goals and priorities; contracting with outside service providers to fast track our applications; working with leadership and programs to determine specific goals, funding needs and opportunities. Within our first 12 months we submitted numerous successful federal, state and foundation grant applications. Through two decades of professional work as an oral historian, creating and running projects on various themes, I have well-developed listening as well as written and oral communication skills. My experience in the higher education industry also includes department and class planning, using LMS platforms including Canvas, Blackboard and D2L; teaching in multiple subject areas, in both the online space and face-to-face; presenting content to professional organizations; successful grant writing and grant administration; research and writing for a broad range of audiences. I'm proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote, and speak both English and German.
