About Thomas Seli

I'm a Progressive Degree student at the University of Southern California, earning an M.S. in Applied Data Science and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, graduating in May 2025. My academic foundation is paired with hands-on experience in machine learning, data engineering, and AI—most notably developing cost forecasting models at UCLA Health, training large language models at Outlier AI, and mentoring students as a Teaching Assistant for USC's Applications of Machine Learning course. Technically, I’m well-versed in Python (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn), SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, PySpark, Databricks, AWS, and Tableau—skills I’ve used to deliver scalable, insight-driven solutions that streamline workflows and inform strategic decision-making. Outside of the technical realm, I bring strong communication, leadership, and mentorship experience. I've taught martial arts for four years, served as a math tutor for over five, and helped lead USC’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club as Social Chair. These roles have deepened my ability to break down complex ideas, connect with diverse teams, and foster growth in others. As a dual citizen of the U.S. and EU, I’m also actively seeking international opportunities where I can combine technical innovation with meaningful impact. Let’s connect!
