I served in the Marine Corps as a radio operator for just over 6 years. During that time, I was a team leader until a back injury abruptly ended my career and I was medically discharged in the summer of 2017. My injuries were life changing as I underwent 6 surgeries in a very short period of time. These unique medical experiences have taught me a lot about perseverance and mental toughness to overcome the challenge of recovery. After my medical discharge, I decided to continue my education at Johnson County Community College to earn my associate degree. I am currently looking to go back to school and finish my bachelor’s degree in business while continuing work and support my family.
