About Thomas Sisk

I am currently working as a Senior lecturer in Finance at the University of Exeter on Degree Apprenticeship programmes. I was awarded my Masters in Business Administration (distinction) in 2017, where I focused on leadership, strategy, innovation and sustainability. I gained Chartered Manager status (CMgr MCMI) in 2018 by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and I am a Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Our Business School is triple accredited (AMBA, AACSB and Equis) and is renowned for its progressive and innovative approach towards educating future business leaders. I have an innovative mindset and a keen interest in teaching and academic research. I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Portsmouth where I am undertaking a professional doctorate in Education (EdD). My doctoral research focuses on vocational learning and skills gaps in the Financial Sector in the UK. I am also interested in developing collaborative partnerships between the University and the Financial Industry. I act as an advisor to several governmental bodies on specific issues related to HE in the UK. In 2022 I was appointed at Bournemouth University appointed as an external examiner in the Business School. I am passionate about Circular Economy and Sustainable Finance, and I serve as the Chief Strategy Officer for a Belgian startup active in recycling and conversion of seafood waste products. I see myself as an Academic Practitioner working on the intersection of academia and the financial services sector.
