About Thomas Skalski
During my post-doctoral at SFU, I worked on next generation of Anion Exchange Membrane as a postdoctoral fellow in the Holdcroft group. I developed my organic and material chemistry background between France (Lille 3 University - 2010) and Canada (Université de Montréal - 2013). After the post-functionnalization of PMMA derivative with B-cyclodextrine using click chemistry I used these new materials for heterogenous catalysis in Lille and then in Montréal star-shaped thiophene-triphenylamine to study their electrochemical properties for electrochromic devices. My Ph.D. thesis was oriented in the synthesis of well-defined model compounds, monomers and ionomers containing sulfonic acids. These molecular systems were used for the first time as hydrocarbons Proton Exchange Membrane for Fuel Cell (PEMFC) and lead to two high publications in high impact factor journals (J. Am. Chem. Soc, 2015 and ChemSusChem, 2017).
