About Thomas Sullivan

I am an embedded systems hardware and software developer. I have a broad range of experience targeting microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, programming tools and languages (high-level and assembly). I have spent much of my career designing and interfacing sensors for the purpose of data acquisition. I have designed the hardware and wrote the software as well. In recent years I have been using FPGAs for many of my designs. I have experience with analog electronics as well as digital electronics. I also have years of experience in test and measurements. Along with development of research instrumentation and software, I have also developed commercial electronics and software. Most of this was battery powered instrumentation where low power consumption was very important. I have experience in giving seminars and teaching. Each spring since 2008 I have taught a college course on Microprocessors. I have also tutored High School and College students in mathematics for many years. One recent home project is writing software to create 3D raised relief maps using SRTM data and most recently, LiDAR data. The files that are produced create physical maps of the earth using any 3D printer. I have also developed glasses to help the blind to see using LiDAR. I am a ham radio enthusiast and hold an Extra Class FCC License. In amateur radio I spend my time on HF including HF digital modes, Satellite communications and microwaves.
