About Thomas Tan

My specialty is using my technical skills to ensure a consistent, high-level of user experience and performance across different platforms. This is for both developers and end users, including traders. I'm experienced in working in many challenging and "exotic" environments, where what's often taken for granted isn't available for legal, technical, existing or other reasons. Think of: • being on a UNIX mainframe stuck with an awkward Korn shell instead of bash and needing to script some build or automation work; • receiving incoming data at increased volume and having systems picked off due to increased latencies or insufficient processing power; • needing to build and ship a Linux-based embedded system with custom drivers, and doing so in a manner which won't expose the developed source code; • not having a GNU suite at hand but instead having quirky-behaving BSD implementations of your favorite tools; • viewing a web page on a mobile device when it's only been designed for viewing on a desktop web browser. I seek to code consistent cross-platform platforms, back-ends and scripts, responsive front-ends, and to perform user-acceptance tests (UAT's), penetration testing, QA and internationalization (i18n) so others—both the developers and end users—don't have to experience the pains I go through and have the seamless experience they've come to expect.
