About Thomas Tuloup

As a student passionate about mathematics and computer science, it only took a few lectures from École Polytechnique to make me fall in love with quantum physics, and in particular with quantum computing, an absolutely fascinating field that ties together elegant concepts from group theory and linear algebra, ressourceful and well-designed algorithms and the surprising properties of quantum mechanics to solve problems in numerous fields beyond the capabilities of classical computers. I am soon to graduate from the National University of Singapore with my PhD in quantum physics. My research involves the study of topological phases of matter in the presence of interactions, with the broader goal of using topological states to perform quantum computation. This led me to get involved with several fascinating problems, such as non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation, or the use of weak measurement to perform adiabatic quantum machine learning, and even to collaborate with experimentalists on quantum chemistry problems. I particularly enjoyed my time with Atos Quantum R&D Lab (now Eviden!) where I was able to participate firsthand in the development of the framework myQLM, and had an abolutely wondeful experience working on quantum error correcting codes, by performing their implementation and benchmarking. This is why after my PhD I hope to join a company where I can put my determination, rigour, and love of multi-faceted problems to good use, and have an impact on the development of this field. I am longing for more experiences and opportunities to push my limits further, facing new challenges to always progress in my quantum computing journey!
