About Thomas Vacca

In the last decade Thomas has worked in roles supporting Defence including with Army, Navy, RAAF, VCDF and Intelligence. Using his background in Biomedical Science, Philosophy of Science, Psychology, Mathematics and Statistics, Thomas tackles every problem with rigorous analysis and research, typically using Bayesian approach, and always contemplates the various perspectives of the same issue to deliver models and reports that are holistic with outcomes that are clear and easy to understand. His research and modelling contemplate considerations of bias eg prosecutor's fallacy, unconscious and conscious bias, the placebo effect and other cognitive bugs. As the Product Specialist for Intelfuze, a Subjective Logic powered software at Houston We Have, he worked closely with clients from the public and private sectors to identify, structure and assess strategic problems in data poor environments. Conveying the complex in language that is understood by various audiences, is a skill at which Thomas excels. He is useful in pre-sales to demonstrate capability of software and to conduct proof of concepts. In post sales, he is patient, supportive and goes above and beyond to assist clients in installation and set up, technical/end user support, consulting and training. Recently he developed training materials including hands-on exercises for a predictive analysis software tool for Defence Intelligence Analysts. Thomas has co-authored research conducted by the Australian National University, National Security College on a first principal analysis of new technologies and detection of nuclear powered ballistic submarines.
