About Thomasin Rouner

Over twenty years experience in an acute care facility with high acuity population including those with serious and persistent mental illness and individuals with substance use disorders. Also includes individuals with behavioral disturbances secondary to traumatic brain injury and dementia. This population often includes people with complicated medical issues in addition to their psychiatric diagnoses. Two of the years of my experience were at the Hennepin County Mental Health Center as a staff nurse, working with clients of the same population in an outpatient setting. Duties in that position included regular screening examinations for tardive dyskinesia, a long term side effect of antipsychotic drugs, as well as managing prescription assistance programs for clients, dispensing of sample medications, arranging appointments and prescription renewals, and greeting and interacting with pharmaceutical representatives visiting the clinic. I have completed inservice training in Motivational Interviewing and have knowledge of the recovery model adopted by my organization.
