About Thorsten Fleischmann

I'm an experienced media expert. My professional TV career started as program manager at the Show Department of the German major broadcaster ZDF in Mainz in 1994. First attempts at journalism took place on different radio stations, also in the print sector, such as the Frankfurter Rundschau. Until May 2013 I held the position of the Head of TV Formats of TVN Group Film & TV Production/AZ Media TV GmbH. Previously I held various management positions in different companies including Business Unit Deputy Head of Docutainment of Endemol Germany GmbH. I can look back on more than 30 years of experience in the Broadcasting and Media Industry and have a strong track record of generating new and innovative cross platform formats. I am currently working in a management position for the German multimedia broadcaster SWR, the second largest broadcaster within the publicly financed ARD. Together with the relevant stakeholders within SWR and ARD, I am spearheading one of the most challenging transformation processes in the history of public broadcasting, doing my best to prepare public media for the future and safeguard democracy. At the same time, I still see myself as a learner. Specialities: establishment of new business divisions, recruiting and teamleading of highly professional and creative talents, agile leadership, establishment and development of new fields of digital media, content management and content promotion, social media management, passion, maintenance of an existing network of decision makers. In leading transformation processes, I rely on my strategic vision, change management expertise, and strong communication skills to foster alignment and engagement. I stay resilient and adaptable under pressure, focusing on collaboration, innovation, and effective stakeholder management. I also balance empathy with a results-oriented approach to guide teams through change successfully.
