About Thorsten Rohm

Thorsten Rohm began his career in 1997 working with SGML applications for print output and electronic publishing. Early on, he refined his skills in prepress working for several legal specialist publishers, focusing on data structuring, conversion and enrichment. Since 2002, his expertise has expanded to include XML, XSLT, XSL-FO and other XML technologies. Since joining Thieme Compliance in 2009, he has progressed to the role of Head of XML Development, where he leads a dedicated team focused on advancing XML content and ensuring its single-source capability. As Content Architect, he is responsible for defining content structures, utilizing XSD to ensure content is organized, reusable, and optimized for integration across multiple platforms. His core responsibilities include developing and maintaining publishing pipelines for fully or highly automated output across various media formats. Additionally, he implements robust quality assurance through Schematron and specialized XProc pipelines to test new stylesheet versions and prevent regressions. He is also an expert in HL7 FHIR and has applied his expertise since 2019 to enhance healthcare data interoperability, enabling more efficient data exchange across healthcare systems. Additionally, he has knowledge of SNOMED CT and LOINC, further supporting his work in healthcare data standards. As a passionate XML Evangelist, he is dedicated to promoting innovative markup technologies and encouraging the exchange of solutions within the XML community.
