About Thu Lu

I am an honors graduate from George Mason University with a BS in Community Health. My long-term interests in the field of public health include the study of infectious diseases, disease surveillance through data analysis, as well as disease prevention to promote population health. For the past four years on my educational pathway, I have further developed my written and oral communication skills, collaboration abilities, and how to effectively manage my time and stay organized even in the face of numerous, and at times, overlapping deadlines. All of these skills greatly contributed to my success in my undergraduate studies, of which include graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving an award for excellence in writing for my health program plan, as well as for academic excellence. In addition to academics, my position as a Formula Room Technician at INOVA Fairfax Medical Campus also gave me the opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, acquire skills to navigate EPIC Systems to provide high quality care to NICU patients, along with the ability to think on my feet to quickly develop solutions to any problems that may arise. The combination of my skills gained through both the academic setting and from my hands-on experiences will make me a valuable addition to the workforce. I am always eager to continue to learn and grow, and am currently working towards furthering my education through pursuing graduate studies in the field of health informatics, with a goal of being able to combine data and technology with public health efforts to increase health outcomes.
