About Tiffani Johnson

I am a NIC Certified and EIPA-credentialed American Sign Language interpreter, registered with the PA Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I currently work full-time as an educational interpreter and part-time as an independent contractor in the Harrisburg area. In May 2021, I graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in American Sign Language/English Interpreting. From February to May 2021, I completed my senior ASL/English interpreting practicum with Access Interpreting Services, Inc. My practicum comprised 270 hours of interpreting experience, observations, and professional development. I gained interpreting experience primarily in the K-12 setting with assignments in community, religious, business, and continuing education settings as well. As a member of the Bloomsburg University Honors College, I participated in both the Presidential Leadership and Service track and the Independent Research Study track. In my junior and senior year, I conducted an independent study capstone project under the mentorship of Dr. Jessica Bentley-Sassaman. The topic of my study was exploring the coping strategies that ASL interpreters use in situations that conflict with their moral, religious, or cultural beliefs.
