About Tiffany Dobson

We are all one seed away from harvest"(March 2019; Dobson Tiffany;'Stead in the City) Sitting in the middle of my garden after sowing new Garden Bean seeds (super easy first plant by the way), I mumbled those words for the first time. At the time I found it super catchy and ran with it, adopting it as my brand tagline, as well as a life mantra. After 2019 continued 2019-ing I realized those words carried so much more weight. In the literal sense, yes, we are all one seed away from harvest - you plant a seed, you get a physical harvest, but in the whimsical sense "the seed" is representative of so much more. If you read a new book, your harvest might be an expanded knowledge base, or a new imaginative experience. Or perhaps, if you talk with someone new, your harvest might be a perspective shift, or a better understanding of a lived experience different from your own. Point is, life is full of seeds waiting to be planted and eventually harvested, we just have to go out and do the work. As a college access professional, this is the attitude I take into work everyday! It is important that students, and their families recognize the opportunities and tools available to them in order to build their better future. Moreover, it's imperative that students realize the power they have in constructing their future - planting the right seeds, during the right season to produce a bountiful harvest, regardless of any perceived or otherwise barriers. I accomplish this by designing and delivering innovative and exciting curriculums surrounding all topics related to academic achievement, personal development, and demystifying college access for students from underserved populations. Of course, my work couldn't be done without my university and district partners, as well as my colleagues, and most importantly my amazing students so building relationship is integral to my success.
