About Tim Barrett
Tim Barrett is an Australian educator passionate about developing the personal capacity of staff and students. Tim is driven to challenge the status quo and create a learning environment that equips students with future-focused skills and capabilities that will enable them to contribute positively to society. He is currently the Head of St Andrew’s Institute of Learning (SAIL), a research and innovation unit embedded within St Andrew’s Anglican College near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. A respected thought leader and practitioner, Tim’s work through SAIL fosters collective efficacy and contributes to the educational discussion locally and globally by presenting in forums such as The Global Education Summit, Australian Council for Educational Leaders Conference, Research Invested Schools Summit, and Anglican Schools Australia Conference. Tim has also been featured in the Australian Council for Educational Research Teacher Magazine and as a guest on the Game Changers Educational Podcast. In 2022, Tim was recognised for his impact on the wider education sector by being named on the prestigious Educator 'Hot List' alongside many leading educational contributors. His current role as Head of SAIL includes oversight of research, growth of staff and student personal capacity across the college, cultural intelligence testing and training and a global learning program that includes a network of partner schools that partake in collaborative research, service and experiential learning and staff and student exchanges. Tim and his team have been recognised through industry awards, including winning the ‘Best Co-Curricular Program’ in 2019 and 2020 and a 5 Star Innovative School in 2021 and 2022 at the Australian Education Awards. In 2023, Tim became a lifetime member of the Society of CQ Fellows This small cohort of researchers and practitioners are thought leaders in the essential skill of cultural intelligence. Tim's work in this space includes testing, training and creating online modules that micro-credential students in cultural intelligence to prepare them for future personal and collective success. A lifelong learner with degrees in Physical Education and Theology and credentials in governance and cultural intelligence training, Tim enjoys bringing a diverse and innovative perspective that adds value to leadership teams and student learning.
