About Tim Child

I'm a physicist turned AI software engineer with a degree in teaching. I love to learn, and I want to build things that make a difference. I recently built a Perplexity-like application from the ground up, including: creating data pipelines, integrating third party APIs, utilizing cutting edge generative AI technologies, structuring and refactoring a medium sized (~50 K lines) code base, automation of testing, developing continuous integration and deployment workflows, database management and migrations, provisioning cloud infrastructure, and more. The main tech stack was centered on the python ecosystem. I have a PhD in condensed matter physics from the University of British Columbia. My work involved developing a novel measurement technique utilizing spin qubits to detect nanoscale entropy changes in quantum devices.(The new method has the potential to definitively confirm the existence of the Majorana fermions that Microsoft's topological QC approach relies on.) I also have a masters level education degree from University College London, and a BSc from Imperial College London. I am currently focused on leveraging my skills in AI and software development to seek roles that challenge and inspire me.
