About Tim Decleir

I have been working as elite sports coordinator (2009 - 2014), forensic psychomotor therapist (2014 - 2020) and school counselor in an English school in Sweden (2021-now). As elite sports coordinator of the Belgian Paralympic Committee, I have been managing all Paralympic national team sports. In this function, I got experience in structural periodic planning for elite teams towards big international competitions (European Championships, World Championships and Paralympic games). I was also responsible for the recruiting, coaching and evaluation of team staff (coaches, physical trainers, managers, physiotherapists, …). Together with my colleague, I managed the total Paralympic elite sports budget consisting of government support and national sponsorships. During these years I also actively worked on the regional and national policy for elite sports for people with a disability. I fulfilled this job with great responsibility, and with an athlete-focused, analytical and results-oriented vision. At the end of my years in elite sports, I choose to change my focus and started to work as a psychomotor therapist in a forensic psychiatric centre. As therapist, I was part of a central multi-disciplinary therapeutic unit, where experiential movement therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy). My focus was largely on coping skills (relaxation, aggression replacement, impulse control …) and social skills (collaboration skills, …). My strength in this job was my motivational and empowering way of working with the patients and finding authentic ways of connecting. I worked together with them on their path towards a better version of themselves by focussing on their strengths, goals in live, responsibility, motivation and skills. I have worked in this field until june 2020, right before we moved to Sweden in july 2020. In March 2021 I started to work in the 'student development team' of International Engelska Skolan in Falun (SWE). Since August 2023, I'm working as school counselor/kurator.
