About Tim Detrixhe
I have been with the Hays Fire Department since 2012 and have attained the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, I oversee the day to day operations of B-shift, consisting of five firefighters. In that capacity I am the Training Coordinator for all technical rescue training, county wide and through the region. In addition to training, I am responsible for the planning and acquisition of all technical rescue equipment for six fire apparatus. I also have an extensive background in successful grant writing. I am a 2009 graduate of Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. I am an active volunteer for the Ellis County Fire Department as well as a part-time instructor for the University of Kansas Fire Rescue Training Institute teaching technical rescue and basic firefighter I and II training. In 2024 I completed the Managing Officer Program at the National Fire Academy with my capstone project titled: “An analysis of staffing at the Hays Fire Department.” My motto is a failure to plan is a plan to fail.
