About Tim Dickinson

I am a senior educator and former video artist based in Plymouth. I work actively in arts education, as a Senior Educational Developer, working for the LTE (Learning, Teaching & Enhancement) at Arts University Plymouth. In conjunction with University of Plymouth, I am coordinator for the Post 16 Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at Arts University Plymouth. I am the lead tutor / coordinator for the BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training. I also am involved in the PCA observation cycle, supporting staff with their teaching practice, informing continuous professional development options, and championing new, innovative teaching and learning pedagogies. I lead the pre-degree observation cycle. Until July 2020 I was coordinator for the International Baccalaureate Career Programme (IBCP) and Curriculum Manager for Extended Diploma provision at Arts University Plymouth. My teaching practice focusses on contemporary creative education and is responsible for the safe and successful progression of students from level 3 courses, and undergraduate degree level programmes. Within my role I am responsible for the developing pedagogic strategies and initiatives, resulting in the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning, in response to both institutional and inspectorate demands. Outside of my main line of employment, I am active in the creative community. I have collaborated with a variety of local and nationally noted artists, including Neil Rose, ZX81, Sarah Webb and Andrew Prior. Works and contributions have been featured as part of Cafe Concrete (in association with Arts Matrix), Sonic Arts Network Expo 07 and Freesound 107FM, and recently in ‘The Wire’ magazine, and ‘Testing Grounds’ (funded by Arts Council, South East.) Audio/visual and performative compositions have been exhibited at Plymouth Arts Centre, University of Plymouth, Viewpoint Gallery (Plymouth), ‘PL:ay’ festival (Plymouth), Permanent Gallery (Brighton).
