About Tim Dsouza

I serve as an executive, board member and educator, supporting mission-driven organizations. Making a difference has been a driving force in my choices throughout my career. My role as Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Operations at Diabetes Canada is a prime example. I believe we can work as a united front to change the conversation about diabetes and enhance the lives of those affected by diabetes. Diabetes Canada’s pursuit of improved care and coverage resonates with my own values. I am fortunate to lead a multifaceted team responsible for Finance, IT, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, Legal and Facilities. In addition to my current role at Diabetes Canada, I hold board positions with the Canada Revenue Agency, the OMERS Sponsors Corporation, the College of Immigration Consultants and the Ontario Internal Audit Committee. My previous board activities include serving on the boards of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board, the National Nursing Assessment Service, St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Oikocredit Canada, Canadian Feed the Children and ROOF. I have also served on the Finance Committee of the ChildFund Alliance. Working with these mission-driven organizations provides the opportunity to make a difference in a variety of unique ways and collaborate with fellow board members to implement governance best practices. One of my career highlights was as Chief Operating Officer at Children Believe, formerly the Christian Children's Fund of Canada, an international development organization that empowers young dreamers around the world to access education, overcome barriers and be a voice for change. Prior to my role at Children Believe, I held a range of leadership roles in the private sector. At Sun Life Financial. I was the Director of Finance for several unique functions over about nine years. These roles include overseeing Expense Management, Fund Operations and Trust Services, Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects and Planning. I have held other key roles at IBM and Pet Valu. In addition to my corporate roles, I have been a part-time instructor for 15 years. Teaching has been a wonderful way to give back to the community, contribute to my continuous learning and foster the next generation of professionals.
