About Tim Foster

Started as a software developer during which time I found I had an appreciation and knack for the disciplines found in release engineering. This led me to the decision to change my career path and I have been in Release Automation and SaaS Operations for the past 30 years, being the lead at 4 start-ups where I have helped to establish and manage successful product development release processes. My development background helps me to understand the needs of my customers which is invaluable in making decisions about process and tools. I am well-versed in the Agile methodology of developing software. I introduced Thunderhead to the Accelerate study on lean software development and DevOps, the concepts of which we implemented and went from quarterly to weekly releases. I currently lead a team of DevOps (or Site Reliability if you prefer) engineers who have achieved a remarkable level of automation. Our engineering team has a culture of postmortems for production incidents that has helped us move from fire fighting to fire prevention. I am eager to bring my skills and experience to an organization that uses it or is looking to adopt it.
