About Tim Hockley

Since I was 18, I have been working in telecommunications. In the US Army, I was a radio teletype writer operator and re-trans operator. I have extensive experience through my time in the US Army (retired) working wireless technology in its early days through my time at BellSouth, Cingular and AT & T. Starting with the job at BellSouth, I began to gain substantial IP experience to go along with my wireless background. When I moved to Cingular, I was able to blend those wireless skills with IP skills and worked my way through Operations as a Tier 1, 2 and 3 Engineer to a job as a Senior Engineer on the Mobility Core Engineer Team. After several years on the Core Team, I was promoted to a Manager for the past 10+ years for IP Engineering and IP Security Engineering teams. I have gone full circle from my early days in the US Army through my last job as a Director for Data Centers. I have great passion and dedication to the profession of building and managing wireless IP networks. networks. I enjoy taking an idea, from beginning as a concept to deployment and then sustainment, the satisfaction of completing the project and seeing the benefits to the customers is A great accomplishment. My strengths are in IP routing and IP security to include firewalls, IPS, IDS and policy. I have over 20+ years’ experience in OSPF, BGP, Cisco, Juniper, ASA Juniper SRX and plenty of time leading these technologies into deployment. The only thing I think I like, maybe better than building networks, was jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. AIRBORNE! HOOHA.
