About Tim Holt

As Director of Research and Development at Pursell Agri-Tech, I am responsible for the development of new coated fertilizer products and coating processes that satisfy and serve many agricultural markets. In addition to new product development, I am also responsible for the development and monitoring of the product quality control program used to evaluate coated fertilizers that are commercially produced. This program involves the implementation of a variety of physical property and product performance procedures that monitor the incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products. The Director of Research and Development is also involved with legal agreements, documents outlining IP protection and the composition of notes, reports and verbal dialogue with attorneys when obtaining a product or process patent. I am responsible for assisting with customer training programs and providing technical support to the marketing team. During my previous 28 years of employment at Applied Chemical Technology, I was fortunate to serve in many scientific, leadership, and project management roles. As R&D Manager, I was responsible for the oversite of bench scale, pilot plant, and analytical activities associated with process and product development. Due to my extensive involvement in every stage of development, I was afforded the opportunity to work side by side with experienced engineers and researchers as a project progressed from conception to commercialization. Serving as R&D Manager also meant working with clients from all over the world and a variety of chemical industries such as fertilizer, pharmaceutical, agrochemicals and feeds, cosmetics, food, detergents and pool chemicals, oil and gas/proppants, and industrial and specialty chemicals. During these projects, I was responsible for estimating, scheduling, designing, organizing, and supervising bench scale and pilot plant scale tests that were operated as batch or continuous processes. Additional responsibilities of the R&D Manager involved the daily management of five research and analytical laboratories which included providing direction to six experienced laboratory technicians.
