About Tim Jaggs

With a journey that began in a small start-up team specializing in retail UK financial lines and worldwide wholesale financial institutions insurance, I've navigated through all stages of the insurance value chain as a broker at Lloyd’s of London. As you would expect, I’ve experienced the ebbs and flows of varied roles and responsibilities, from the youngest in a start-up team to the Managing Director of a 250-person team. I’ve been in three start-ups, leading two of them, and all were successful. I’ve also enjoyed working in large and well-established teams. It was working in start-ups where I first realized I enjoyed solving risk-related problems. We figured out how to insure the honesty of a factoring company’s customers, how to protect a title insurance company from real estate fraud, found ways to explain how MGAs handling all sorts of risks would succeed, and developed the first stand-alone sexual abuse liability insurance for the Catholic Church. Solving these problems required understanding a client’s risk, what it meant to them, and how they managed it - and then explaining all that to insurers in ways they found attractive. When risk managers and insurers define risk differently, it's not always as easy as you think! Relocating to Canada for family reasons and later to the US did nothing to change my commitment to client-centered work. However, the more I engaged with clients, particularly around sexual abuse risk, the more I realized the need to impact risk management strategies beyond traditional insurance offerings. That led me to create BOKRIM. BOKRIM is all about delivering sexual abuse risk management best practices to any organization. Our initial goal is to halt the rise in sexual abuse; it’s doubled in the last ten years. Then, we aim to start reducing it and to take it down as low as possible. That’s why BOKRIM also actively hunts out new and better ways to protect children; you can’t keep doing the same things and expect anything to change.
