About Tim Murray

I continue to keep active in the field of education after retirement as a supervisor of interns in the Literacy Specialist Program at Teachers College Columbia University. I've been been working as a Staff Developer for The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, housed at Teachers College. I also worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Literacy Department of West Chester University of Pennsylvania. I created the course for my students and taught EDR 307; Foundations of Reading. I retired as a reading specialist and language arts coordinator for the Garnet Valley Elementary School in Glen Mills, PA. My role included working with whole class, and small groups, and the act of planning and co-teaching with a third, fourth and fifth grade regular education classroom teacher. I have worked on turn around training for my colleagues in the writing and reading workshops for most of the 30+ years in my school district. I was also a co-director of the 5th grade play. Having had the opportunity to take two different compensated professional leaves, the old "Sabbatical" I worked for Teachers College Columbia University in New York City. I worked as a staff developer for The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project for a school in Queens, after many years as a participant in their Summer Institutes and Reunions. I also supervised field experience students from The Literacy Specialist program at TC in the Bronx and Brooklyn. On my second round at Teachers College, I worked as a lead teacher at The Teachers College Community School. This role had many hats in grades pre-K to 3rd.
