About Tim Nicholl

I never really knew what path to take when I was younger and whilst working at asda I just stumbled across an apprenticeship in engineering and never looked back. I started with next to no knowledge, I am currently studying a NVQ level 3 in Mechatronic Engineering. My main interest at work is the electrical side of things as I just find it so interesting and technical, over the past 3 and a half years I have familiarised and extended my knowledge of, 3 phase and single phase power. Motors and motor testing. VFD's (inverters). Electrical components and functions e.g Resistors, capacitors, diodes, rectifiers, relays, contactors and transformers. PLCs. Electrical wiring. I also have learned more of the mechanical side of things whilst doing this such as, Gearboxes. Motors. Fluid Power. Mechanical components e.g bearings, pulleys, belts and chains. However I am always keen to expand my knowledge in any area of skill whether its mechanical or electrical.
