About Tim Oyer

I am a Shareholder and former President/Managing Partner of Wolf Greenfield, an intellectual property firm in Boston, New York and DC, a career and leadership advisor, and counselor to businesses and governments on US IP law. I joined Wolf Greenfield as a science/technology advisor in 1991 immediately after graduating MIT. Between 1997 and 2021 I served in all major firm leadership roles, culminating in 14 years as President/Managing Partner. During that time and presently, I have advised corporations, non-profits, and governments and governmental agencies abroad on US IP law, lecturing regularly at US and foreign universities. I serve as an alumni leadership volunteer for MIT, counseling alumni and potential students. I also counsel individuals and teams on career development, leadership, management, and optimizing co-operation and synergy across diverse experiences and approaches. I counsel motivated individuals on career development and growth, free of charge, when warranted. In my law practice, I serve world-class corporations, universities, and startups across the globe on all aspects of IP law, focusing on protection, enforcement, agreements, freedom to operate, diligence, and comprehensive counseling. The teams I build first seek to understand a client's business goals, both today and downstream, then build a plan consistent with realizing those goals. We take pride in counseling clients in matching actions to budget, often assisting with budget projection, recognizing each client's unique needs and opportunities. I serve are not limited to any area of technology, and typically operate to commercialize technology at the border of chemistry and another discipline such as biotech, pharma, IT, and medical device.
